Layered Cabbage and Ground Beef Recipe

November 21st, 2008 at 11:53am Under beef+ budget cooking

This is a basic meatloaf recipe so doctor yours up as you like meatloaf except add a few more spices to make it a little spicier than normal.

Ingredients

1 large head of cabbage, cut into small-medium pieces and blanched
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
2 medium onions
2 Tbs. salt
2 Tbs. ground black pepper
1 egg
Breadcrumbs

Directions

Start out with a layer of cabbage along the bottom of the dish (a glass baking dish work great) and then add a layer of the meat mixture. Continue layering until dish is full. Top it off with 3 slices of bacon. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, just until bacon is cooked and the entree is nice and bubbly. It can be served with boiled potatoes or alone. If you want to add tomato sauce, that is an option. I personally don’t care for tomato sauce on it.
