No Bake Hot Cross Buns Recipe

I made these for Easter. Forgot to buy some so I had to whip something up. My husband loves them. He wants them all the time now. Great with morning coffee. Try warming in the oven! They are even better! I intend to use these in a Victorian tea party I am catering next month.

Ingredients

1 dozen store bought dinner rolls
zest from 1 orange
1 stick of butter, softened
a few pieces of dried fruit (I used Craisins)
powdered sugar
milk
1/4 tsp. vanilla
chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

Cut dinner rolls in half horizontally. Put butter, orange zest, and dried fruit, in a food processor, or blender, and blend until fruit is chopped and incorporated into the butter. Spread on bottom half of dinner rolls. Add milk to powdered sugar until thick, but still pourable. Add vanilla, and stir. Pour glaze over buns in a cross pattern (or just drizzle back and forth). Sprinkle with nuts while glaze is still wet. Let buns sit for about 15 minutes so glaze dries, before serving.
