Irish Country Soda Bread Recipe

A wonderful, old family recipe for Irish soda bread. This recipe requires no yeast and the batter is easy to make. Tastes good with everything.

Ingredients
1 1/2 C. buttermilk
2 Tbs. butter or margarine, melted
1 lg. egg, slightly beaten
1 1/2 C. raisins
3 C. all purpose flour
2/3 C. sugar
1 Tbs. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Mix together, buttermilk, egg, butter and raisins. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined. Spoon into prepared pan. Bake 50-55 minutes. Insert toothpick to test for doneness. Cool on rack.
